Construction Lines is a tool for accurate CAD style modelling. Build snappable guide points and edges, draw lines and primitive shapes in place, automatically create faces in closed geometry, precisely move, duplicate and rotate geometry around a scene and cut-through meshes with extrude.

Guide edges and points allow for a construction workflow where guides are set and models are then constructed within these guides. The guides won’t interfere with model geometry and can be toggled off and on when required. Guides edges will disappear when working outside of Construction Lines and neither Guide Edges nor Guide Points will be rendered.

Construction Lines allows for rectangles, circles, and arcs to be drawn in place from precise snap points on existing geometry or guides. These can be drawn from anywhere on a 3D model without the need for Blender’s 3D cursor to define an Add location. Drawing shapes onto existing faces will automatically cut into the existing face.

Feature: Grid snapping now works in perspective mode. There is a toggle for this in the Tool Panel (press ‘n’ in the viewport) under CL
Feature: Dimensions and guides are now persistent outside of Construction Lines. This means that they can still be seen even after Construction Lines has been exited. They can be turned off in the Tool Panel under CL
Improvement: Big improvements to snapping and mesh indexing speed when working with large scenes and complex meshes
Improvement: When hovering over objects, CL no longer needs to select the current object to query its mesh. This means that objects no longer flash in the inspector or properties panel
Improvement: Guides are shown in object isolation mode
Improvement: Dimension labels on guides are centred to the visible guide line segment. This allows the dimension label to be seen if a dimension is started and then the view is zoomed in
Fix: Issues with mesh splitting when drawing onto existing faces in Blender 5.0+
Fix: New face normal would sometimes point in the wrong direction when drawing onto an existing face. Normals now point the correct way to match the existing face.
Fix: Snap points now draw over selected vertices so they can be seen even after vertices are selected
Fix: Construction Lines now only runs in one viewport, so split viewports will no longer show multiple instances
Fix: Local view hotkey not working if set to the standard Blender ‘/’ key
