What is Auto-Rig Pro?
Auto-Rig Pro is an addon for Blender to rig characters, retarget animations, and provide Fbx/Gltf export, with presets for Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot. First developed as my own in-house rigging tool, i’ve released it a few years ago and it expanded quickly thanks to great support from the community!For humanoid characters, the Smart feature can automatically place the bones to speed up the process, after adding the green markers. The result remains editable.
Non-humanoid characters can also be rigged without the Smart feature, manually (horse, dog…).
Based on a non-destructive workflow, the final rig remains easily editable anytime after its generation. Check the product documentation and the youtube channel for more informations.

Important note about skinning: If possible, use water-tight geometry for best auto-skinning results. Knowing the bases of Blender’s skinning tools, weight painting, to fine tweak the bones influences is recommended. Read the doc for more informations.

Rig: New “Smart IK Pole” as leg option, to better maintain the IK pole position while rotating the foot, avoiding leg flips
Rig: Implemented the IK tip fingers feature back, in a propery way that doesn’t break the dependency graph (since it broke with Blender 4 graph)
Rig: Horse, dog presets: Enabled the muzzle controller by default, and decreased the jaw speed rotation
Rig: Mouth: When using rotation to open the jaw, now align the jaw controller exactly where the reference bone is located. Can be reverted in the “Legacy” menu.
Rig: Spline IK limbs don’t require anymore to manually unlink the action before “Match to Rig”
Rig Tools: Support for the new Smart IK pole in the “Pole Parent” settings
Rig Tools: UI: Wrapped the Foot Roll Break settings under a “Show Advanced” toggle for simpler UI
Rig Tools: Support for Smart IK pole when snapping and baking the pole parent
Smart: AI: New “Samples” setting for facial prediction, more samples generally lead to better estimation
Smart: AI: AI files updated to version 1.19, improving support for arms bent forward and facial estimation
Smart: AI: AI files updated to version 1.20, support for multiple samples for all models
Smart: The Hand Tip marker is now skipped for quicker manual setup when “Use Markers Depth” is disabled, since it is not required
Smart: Fingers markers lines connections are now drawn too
Smart: Support for eyeballs as hemisphere
Skin: Send a warning if Scale Fix is enabled, while meshes objects are keyframes, and remove keyframes automatically
UI: Warning message when adding Bendy-Bones limbs, stating they’re not exportable
Misc: Refactored the duplicate object calls. Use the lower level data method instead of operator, avoiding breakages when changing Blender preferences duplicate settings
Prefs: Preferences can now be imported and exported to file
Prefs: When installing AI files, now only remove the “inference” folder tree and root files selectively to avoid accidental deletion of third-party files (in case the AI path is accidentally pointing at a wrong folder)
Export: Support custom properties on humanoid skeletons, custom bones only
Export: Support custom properties located on rig object
Export: “Export Twist” no longer export twist bones when it’s off and multiple twist bones are set
Fixed:
Smart: The elbow position was incorrect in case “Use Markers Depth” was disabled and the elbow markers was not set
Smart: Use lower level empty creation code for “foot_dir_space”, avoiding potential context-collection errors
Smart: Error handling when trying to run the facial guess markers feature, while the head tip marker does not exist yet
Export: Avoid broken fingers weights in case the user has created wrong vertex groups for the first phalange with c_ prefix
Export: More resilient name identification of Quick Rig constraints
Export: Extra spine limbs were not catching the correct parent
Export: Humanoid: Skip bone creation if it’s already added as a custom bone
Export: Shape keys action slots where not skipped, breaking the export
Export: Exporting the active shape key animation, without driven values, was no more supported in Blender 4.4 and higher (slot support)
Export: Error when applying shape keys of objects containing NLA tracks with identical names
Export: Custom bones parented to the first finger phalange were unparented when exporting
Rig: The knee and elbow joint fans bulge constraints were not evaluating the angle correctly
Rig: The base forearm bone must be parented to the arm, for correct evaluation of joint fans bulge. Requires an armature update.
Rig: The Bird preset armature for Blender 4.4 was improperly displayed in the list as custom preset
Rig: Blender 2.93 compatibility fix, use “BEFORE” instead of “BEFORE_FULL” when setting the muzzle constraints
Rig: Fingers IK: Missing backward-compatibility checks when Match to Rig
Rig: Missing lip name variable in the current scope when setting the lips amount, leading to an error in some cases
Rig: Incorrect constraints order when enabling the lips offset controller and sticky lips
Rig: Error when duplicating a Spline IK limb on a second armature
Rig: Missing constraint removal when disabling Soft-Lips
Rig Tools: Accidentally throwing an error when trying to snap all IK fingers, even when the rig was updated properly
Prefs: “Parent Objects when Binding” was not saved
Prefs: Syntax error when saving “parent_bound_objects”
Remap: The IK pole in Target or Chain modes were not properly supporting the redefined rest pose in Preserved mode, leading to wrong position if the rest pose had important offsets
Skin: Binding multiple objects in Voxelized mode was broken, accidentally caused by the duplicate function refactor
