What is Auto-Rig Pro?

Auto-Rig Pro is an addon for Blender to rig characters, retarget animations, and provide Fbx/Gltf export, with presets for Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot. First developed as my own in-house rigging tool, i’ve released it a few years ago and it expanded quickly thanks to great support from the community!For humanoid characters, the Smart feature can automatically place the bones to speed up the process, after adding the green markers. The result remains editable.

Non-humanoid characters can also be rigged without the Smart feature, manually (horse, dog…).

Based on a non-destructive workflow, the final rig remains easily editable anytime after its generation. Check the product documentation and the youtube channel for more informations.

Important note about skinning: If possible, use water-tight geometry for best auto-skinning results. Knowing the bases of Blender’s skinning tools, weight painting, to fine tweak the bones influences is recommended. Read the doc for more informations.

Version: Now supports the Blender 5 API, while maintaining backward-compatibility with older Blender versions. Rig, Remap, Export and Picker modules updated
Export: New “Reset Transforms” setting to reset controllers transforms between each actions when baking. Useful if some bones are not keyframed, avoiding persistent offsets shared across actions.
Rig: Eyebrows: Support of arbitrary amount of eyebrow bones

Smart: “Use Markers Depth” is now always disabled by default, when placing the markers manually
Smart: AI: New “Guess Facial” feature, estimating the facial markers position automatically
Smart: AI: Improved deep learning model files to version 1.17

Fixed:
QuickRig Compatibility: “Auto IK Roll” not applied in limb options
Rig: Lips corners mini not removed when disable the whole head
Rig: Error when adding an armature preset, while a master bones collection was defined
Rig: Duplicate Mirror was not assigning the correct bone colors in some cases, due to Blender 5 losing the bone selection after duplicating and switching to pose mode
Rig: Expanded the auto parent retargeter function, trying to match a generic deforming bone name with a ref bone
Rig: Eyebrow bones greater than 4 not removed when disabling the full eyebrow in Limb Options
Rig: Tongue bones error when disabling the mouth
Rig: Eyebrows: Master and offset controllers were not properly removed in some cases
Rig: Mouth: Middle lips masters not parented properly when the lips masters count was changed
Rig: Dupli Mirror: Leg foot roll-heel constraints values were not swapped correctly when mirroring from right to left
Rig: removed “body_mid” collection leftover in the master armature blend file
Export: Kilt: Master controller was not exported anymore
Export: Handle buggy actions without slots
Export: DataTransfer modifiers were still applied when the Render setting was off
Export: DataTransfer modifiers were not applied properly with the Units x100 setting
Unknown compatibility breakage: flush() function not recognized, likely due to a custom python environment
Smart: AI: error when media type setting was not set to image
Smart: AI: incorrect screenshot when “Render Region” was enabled
Smart: Skip the neck mesh depth evaluation, in case “Use Markers Depth” is enabled, supporting meshes with holes
Smart: Blender 5 not aligning fingers roll
Smart: Guess Facial was broken in Facial Only mode
Smart: AI: Removed the knee marker estimation being forced in the middle of the leg
RigTools: Blender 5 fcurves compatibility breakage
RigTools: Extract Root Motion broken with negative axes
RigTools: Blender 5 compatibility issue with Rig Layer bone hide functions
RigTools: Ensure c_arm_fk location values remain zeroed out when snapping the Arm FK Lock setting
Remap: Blender 5 fcurves compatibility breakage with Interactive Tweaks
Skin: Corrective drivers: Blender 5 compatibility breakage, changed from dict style property access to attribute style access
Blender 4.5 compatibility regression: fcurves access broken (add fist pose, etc…)
Prefs: AI files installation throwing an error if the folder was not found
