Create a Paper Model City by just tweaking a few sliders. Enter dimensions, set the terrain, place a river, add buildings, create your own color scheme and more. The Geo Nodes setup is highly flexible, you can add new buildings of your own, tweak the materials or mess around in the nodes setup. A Quick Guide with a summary of all the settings is included.

Little City Generator 1
Geo Nodes Setup for Blender 4.5

Note: this .blend file is created and tested in Blender 4.5 using Cycles Rendering.

To start a new city add a basic mesh to the scene and apply the Tiny City Gen found in the Modifier Tab under ‘Unassigned’.

Note: In some cases the Terrain Material will not load immediately when creating a city from scratch. In that case remove the material in the Terrain Settings, and apply the ‘Default Terrain and River’ material again.

A quick overview of the settings:

City Size
– The dimensions of the city in blocks of roughly 160 mm wide

Distribution
– Seed sets the global layout of houses, flats and parcs
– Grid Density sets the amount of elements per grid block
– City Center sets the radius of the city center
– City Area sets the radius of the city on the terrain
– Parcs Seed sets the global distribution of parcs
– Parcs Size sets the size of parcs

Flats & Houses
– Scale Flats sets the size of big buildings
– Scale Houses sets the size of small buildings
– Flats vs Houses sets the ratio of small and big buildings

Terrain
– Height sets the height of the surrounding terrain
– Detail sets the detail in high and low areas
– Seed sets the global layout of the terrain
– Show Border extrudes the terrain border, best to use only in renders
– Material sets the material for the terrain; by default ‘Default Terrain and River’

River
– Position is the position of the river on the terrain
– Seed is the global layout of the shape of the river
– Quality sets the image quality of the river, use lower quality in editing, higher quality in renders
– Bridge Amount sets the random chance of spawning a bridge over the river
– Bridge Seed sets the global layout of bridge placement

Collections
Here you can set the collections of objects. You can create new collections or add new buildings to the existing collections. Note: to use the ‘Default Paper Material’, new objects must be UV unwrapped. As an option you can add the ‘PaperCraft’ modifier found in the Modifier Tab under ‘Unassigned’.

Set Colors
Select the city in the viewport and open the Material Tab. You can set the colors in the materials ‘Default Terrain and River’ and ‘Default Paper Material’. Note: the material for the terrain is set in the Little City Gen Modifier Tab.

Scene Light and Color
You can set the Scene light strength, light color and background color in the World Tab

For the Night Time Effect:
– Set Windows Lights to 1 (Tiny City Gen > Houses & Flats)
– World Tab – set Light Strength to 0
